Procedure
We follow the procedure as established for previous nominations:
1. We would like to encourage you to nominate directly to us an outstanding scientist with an extraordinary experience and high impact on the Earth Tidal and Geodynamics Community who contributed significantly to develop the science and technology of tidal research. The deadline is 15 of May 2024. The application should contain a nomination letter and a brief CV of the nominee.
2. After we receive the nominations, the “2024 Paul Melchior Medal Committee” will be established, which will consist of the previous Awardees as well as some experienced “Tidalists” which were not nominated, but not more than 7 people in total. As chair and vice-chair of the Sub-Commission 3.1, we will be the Chairman and the Secretary of the Committee.
3. After making the decision, at the 20th Symposium in Strasbourg, the outstanding scientist will be awarded. Additionally, the Awardee’s symposium fee will be waived.
